Did you know Twitter boasts more than 300 million “monthly active users?” Together, they generate billions of impressions every day. For those new to the scene, or those just busy trying to manage everything else on their business plate, the fast paced world of Twitter can be overwhelming.

Take advantage of these tips, tricks, and tools to increase your tweeting success:

  • Link your website. Attaching your website to tweets will generate traffic from your Twitter followers, creating multiple opportunities for engagement. In turn, this will boost your tweet impressions and increase your website’s click-through rate. Win-win!
  • Retweet! Besides creating original posts, retweeting is one of the most effective strategies on Twitter. Retweeting connects your account to another, creating engagement. Activity and connection is what attracts new followers and boosts your page’s visibility. A good strategy is to thoughtfully retweet large, influential companies. Make sure their connection of similarity to you makes sense as that is where you’ll find meaningful followers.
  • Be Active! The best way to increase your engagement is to actively engage with other users. Twitter is very fast-paced, so posting daily (or more) content is important, as well as being intentional with favoriting, following, and retweeting users. Two easy ways to stay “in the know” are to visit the “Moments” section (located across the top menu bar on your desktop and by choosing the magnifying glass on your mobile app) or to set your “Trends.” To follow specific trends, visit the box on the left hand side of your home page and select your geographic region (on your desktop). If on your mobile app, select the magnifying glass to set and see trends tailored just for you.
  • Hoot Your Tweets. If you’re not using Hootsuite to manage your social media posting, you need to! Specifically in regards to your Twitter account, the two major benefits of posting your content through Hootsuite are the link management tools and option for scheduling. With only 280 characters available per Twitter post, Hootsuite automatically shortens the link for you, saving valuable characters for your message. The option for scheduling messages available on Hootsuite is important to stay active on Twitter. It’s not efficient to visit Twitter daily (or more) to keep your content running. With Hootsuite, you can set aside a block of time to post several days worth of content in one sitting.
