Now that your business goals and budget are set for 2018, it’s time to develop your marketing strategy. Your marketing strategy is a vital piece of the puzzle and will help to keep you on track towards achieving your business goals.
[ If you’re trying to get up to speed with our 2018 Prep series, stop and take a look back at Parts 1& 2:
- (Re)define Your Target Audience. Consider the age, gender, industry, position/title, or budget of the audience your business is targeting. Additionally, among these people, important factors such as major life events (homeowner, new parents, recent college grad, etc.) are important to keep in mind. If you’ve been in business for a while, take stock of who your audience actually is compared to what your original intent was.
- Choose the Right Platform. With your WHO in mind, you can determine where they are more likely to be found online. The WHO in question can also guide your decision making as to which type of content is most effective. For example, consider how differently the type and quality of information can be translated on Twitter versus a blog post. Regardless of the platform, don’t forget to include a compelling call to action to mobilize your audience!
- Size Up the Competition. Research some of your competitors – where are they posting? What type of content is getting the most engagement? What types of specials or promotions are they running? You may just stumble upon a way to increase the efficiency of your online presence. Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box and to try something new!
- Perfect Your Timing. It’s a common question… when should I post on Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn? It is true that the time of day you post impacts the reach you’ll have. AND it varies by social media platform. If you’re going to take the time to create and share meaningful content, make sure it’s working just as hard as you are!
